Personal Information

Race Against Blood Cancer (RABC) ensures that it only collects, processes and makes use of your personal data to the extent that is legally permissible under EU Data Protection Regulations.

All personal data collected by RABC is subject to a special protection pursuant to EU Data Protection Regulations and other provisions for data protection which we ensure by means of technical and organizational measures.  RABC employees are obligated to maintain confidentiality. Data protection and data security are a matter of particular importance for us.

Collection of Personal Data

RABC only collects, processes and makes use of your personal data to the extent that is legally permissible and required in order to find suitable stem cell donors and to establish contact with you.

If you register as a donor on our Internet site, subscribe to a newsletter, donate money or use other online forms, your data will be transmitted to us in an encrypted form in order to exclude access by unauthorized third parties. In principle, we store your data on specially protected servers. Access to personal data is only possible by a few, specially empowered employees of  RABC who are all familiar with the applicable data protection regulations.

Transmission of your personal-related data to third parties

The purpose of processing your data is to procure stem cell donors to patients in need. Your donor data as well as the results of the typing of your tissue characteristics (HLA typing) will be transmitted in an anonymised form to national and/or international stem cell donor registries. Only such data will be transmitted which is relevant for the donor search. Essentially, this includes a donor identification number, gender, date of birth, tissue typing results, the number of tissue typings conducted to date and the donor status (available or unavailable). Names, addresses or similar identifying data will not be transmitted.

In order to accomplish and fulfil our tasks, we must also co-operate with service providers who receive personal data when it is necessary for this purpose. These service providers are contractually obligated by RABC to only use the obtained personal data for the agreed purpose and to prevent accidental disclosure to third parties. We assure you that we will not sell or lease your data to other companies or organizations. By no means will we use your e-mail address or other data without your consent for other purposes for which you have not granted any consent.

Storage of IP addresses & cookies

In order to access the RABC website, registration of the IP address is required for a short period of time. The IP address is the globally valid, unique identification of a computer that consists of four number blocks separated by dots. In general, you will not use an IP address that remains the same as a private user because your provider only allocates this address to you temporarily for each session. Nevertheless, a clear allocation of the user data via this feature is, in principle, possible for static IP addresses. Our web server stores IP addresses for a maximum period of 24 hours. Afterwards, the access data will be anonymised.

Use of Google Analytics

On this website, RABC deploys Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, text files which are stored on the user’s computer that allow an analysis concerning the usage of these websites by the visitors. The information generated by the cookie regarding the usage of this website (including the user’s IP address) is transmitted to a server of Google Inc. in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information to analyse the usage of this website by the visitors in order to compile reports on the visitors’ activities on the website of RABC and to provide other services which are connected to the website usage and Internet usage. Google will also transfer this information to third parties whenever necessary insofar as this is legally stipulated or if third parties are processing these data on behalf of Google. Google guarantees that your IP address will by no means be associated with other data of Google Inc.

You can prevent the installation of the cookies by means of a corresponding adjustment of your browser software; however, we would like to point out that in this case, you might not be able to make full use of all functions of this website. By using this website, you grant your consent to the processing of your data collected by Google in the aforementioned manner and for the aforementioned purpose. Use of Google Adwords

RABC also uses the free conversion tracking function of Google AdWords on this website. In this context, Google assures that it will protect the data of its customers and users. When a user clicks on an ad, Google places a cookie on the user’s computer which will expire after a 30-day period. Google does not allocate a user’s search activity to his or her ad click protocol. Furthermore, Google does not collect or protocol any personal, identifying information whatsoever and it does not pass on any personal information to third parties. Users who do not want to participate in the tracking can deactivate the cookie of the Google Conversion Tracking on their Internet browser under user settings. These users will not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.
